Hyde Park Day School’s Summer Program is an intensive, multi-sensory reading and math program for students with learning disabilities, entering 2nd through 8th grades. The program is offered at its Chicago, Lemont, and Northfield campuses. Students can enroll in either or both programs, and need not be full-time HPDS students. The 6-week program provides specialized, individualized instruction aimed at developing the full potential of each student.
The Reading/Language Arts Program aims to:
Improve reading, spelling, reading comprehension, vocabulary and fluency
Improve understanding of sound/letter relationships and phonemic rules
Improve phonological awareness
Enhance written language skills through the creation of a book report
NOTE: HPDS is now accepting children in grades 1–3 without a formal LD diagnosis but who are struggling in core academic areas, including reading, spelling, and math (for summer school only. Please see hydeparkday.org for more details).
