Call for Proposals! The 2018 Fall Conference will be November 8th and 9th at the NIU Conference Center in Naperville, IL. Our featured speaker on Thursday, November 8th, will be Barbara A. Wilson, M.Ed., co-founder and president of Wilson Language Training, whose mission is to provide educators with the resources they need to help students become fluent, independent readers. On Friday, November 9th, our featured speaker is Anita L. Archer, Ph.D., an educational consultant to school districts on explicit instruction, the design and delivery of instruction, behavior management, and literacy instruction.
We are currently soliciting proposals for breakout sessions at the conference. Submitted proposals should be on the subject of dyslexia and related disorders that are either theoretical or applied (practical). The following topics would be especially welcome this year: effective instructional approaches (reading, spelling, writing, & math), interventions and strategies that can be easily implemented in the classroom, early identification of language learning disabilities, secondary emotional impacts related to learning challenges, neurodevelopmental disorders that may co-occur with dyslexia.
