Finally, a conference that teaches parents how to help their children struggling with dyslexia! We will share the newest technologies available to assist your child, including iPad apps and software options. There will be a brief discussion about how to get an Assistive Technology evaluation for your child and questions to think about when going through the process. We will also discuss how the whole family is changed when a child struggles with dyslexia. This discussion focuses on the impact of having a child with dyslexia on family relationships, as well as the positive aspects that come from learning to communicate differently. Finally, strategies for improving family relationships in the context of having a child with a learning disability will be discussed. The teen panel discussion will feature area teens who are conquering many of the challenges faced by those with dyslexia. You will also learn how to navigate the ins and outs of cognitive assessments, which can provide key information needed for success in school.
